Betty O. Gochenaur, 77, formerly of 115 N. Main St., Manheim, died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Mrs. Gochenaur worked 14 years as a teller and then in the customer service department of the former Manheim National Bank, now Farmers First Bank, Manheim branch. She retired in 1989. She previously worked 25 years in the office at the former Raymark Industries, Manheim. Mrs. Gochenaur was an active member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Penryn, where she was church organist for 46 years and church secretary and choir director for many years. She also served as an elder and deacon on the church consistory and taught Sunday school and Bible school. She volunteered at the Nearly Nu Shop, Manheim, and was its treasurer for seven years. An avid bowler, she was a Pennsylvania state bowling champion in the women's division. Her average score was 184. Born in Mastersonville, she was the daughter of the late Allen P. and Lottie Greiner Ober. Her husband, Clarence Gochenaur, died in 1978. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Arlene Nunemacher of Manheim; six stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Margaret Shank; two brothers, Allen Ray and David Kenneth Ober; and a sister, Amelia Ober.
Betty married Clarence Gochenaur, son of Abraham F. Gochenaur and Sallie L. Gibble. (Clarence Gochenaur was born on 17 May 1903 in Manheim, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA 1 and died in Dec 1973 in Manheim, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.)
