bullet  Marriage Notes:

I know this information goes against what has been published in "The Descendants of Henry Gibbel" books. Here are the reasons.

1) I can find NO evidence that the marriage of Jacob Gibble was actually to Barbara EBY. I have even asked the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society Genealogist to prove or disprove and he supports me.

2) I DO have a Lancaster County Orphans Court record for the death of Edward Hilton in 1824 stating that Edward's daughter Barbara was the wife of a Jacob Gibble.

3) The time frame is correct.

4) In the "Descendants ...." books, one of the children of Jacob and Barbara are listed with the middle initial of "H" which was not uncommonly the mothers maiden name.

If you can disprove me... PLEASE DO SO.

Thanks

1 Ira W. Gibbel, The Descendants of Henry Gibbel (Elverson, PA, Olde Springfield Shoppe, 1995), Book, pg 3. The source lists BARBARA EBY as the wife of Jacob Gibble... I can find NO source that confirm this and it is confusing because Jacob's mothers maiden name was EBY... I do have an orphan's court record that for Barbara HILTON's father's death. This record lists Barbara's husband as Jacob GIBBLE... This is the only Jacob GIBBLE married to a Barbara that I could find. I will also point out that Ira's book gives one child of Jacob & Barbara as Peter H. I do know that it was not uncommon to use the mother's maiden name as the middle name of children.
