Mother of the Year by Rexmont ECC

CORNWALL -- Mrs. Minnie Shue, former president and long time member of the Adult Missionary Society of the Rexmont Evangelical Congretational Church was honored as "Mother of the Year."

She was honored at the annual Family Banquet held by the group on Saturday evening in the Educational Building of the church. Approximately 100 persons attended.

Seated at the head table were members of Mrs. Shue's family including Mr. and Mrs. Clarence H. Whitman, Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Kreiser and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Mays Kurtz Jr.

Following the dinner, prepared and served by Mr. William Felty Sr., William Felty Jr., Cherie and Cathy Dodson, a program was presented by the Missionary Society.

Mrs. Mays Kurtz Jr., sang "Mother" in honor of her mother. Mrs. Mary Marks, presented a gift to Mrs. Shue on behalf of the society.

Miss Evelyn Shriff of First Evangelical Congregational Church, Lebanon, conducted the devotions. Mrs. Leonard Schott sang two solos accompanied by Mrs. Riley Brubaker at the piano.

A monetary gift was presented to the pastor of the church, the Rev. Kenneth Camara, by William Felty on behalf of the Sunday School and church. The Rev. Mr. Camara graduated Saturday from the Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown.

Following the program Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Trump conducted an auction of gifts from Hollywood celebrities, presidents and other well known persons that netted more than $250 ofr the missinoary work of the church.

Minnie married Harry S. Shue before 1934 in Pine Grove, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. (Harry S. Shue was born in 1895, died on 17 Nov 1957 in Cornwall, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA and was buried in Cornwall Cemetery, Lebanon, PA.)
