Benjamin R. Groff, 97, formerly of 112 West End Ave., Lititz, died at Luther Acres Thursday evening after a brief illness.
He previously lived at Moravian Manor for about 10 years.
He was the husband of Elsie M. Steinman Groff, who died in 1984.
Born in New Holland, he was a son of the late Diller R. and Susan Moore Groff. He was a Protestant.
He worked for more than 40 years at the former Morgan Paper Mill in Lititz, starting as an electrician and retiring as maintenance manager.

J. Leon Groff, 79, of 426 Friendship Ave., died Thursday at Moravian Manor, Lititz, after a brief illness.
He was a supervisor and tool and die maker for the former RCA Corp., retiring in 1981.
Groff was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, where he was in the men's Bible class.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps.
Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Benjamin R. and Elsie Steinman Groff.

Alta Mae Steinman, 90, formerly of 832 Darby Lane, died Wednesday morning at the Mennonite Home after a brief illness.
A homemaker, Mrs. Steinman also was a self-employed hairdresser on Frederick Street.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mountville, and the Red Rose Coin Club.

Eugene Rhinier, former City Council president, was 76
Eugene W. Rhinier, 76, a former Lancaster City Council president and a retired right-of-way engineer, died Friday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
Rhinier, of 502 E. Ross St., was appointed to council in 1965 and served until 1982, including four years as president.
He sought re-election in May 1981, but he failed to win the Republican primary. Before going on the council, he had been city parks superintendent from 1962-65.
He retired in 1980 as a right-of-way engineer with the former Huth Engineers, now PSC Engineers & Consultants Inc.
Maj. Gen. Richard M. Scott, city mayor in the late 1970s, called Rhinier "a very dedicated man who was very deeply involved in city affairs. He did an outstanding job."
Rhinier was the husband of the late Edna I. Steinman Rhinier, who died in 1986. A lifelong Lancaster County resident, he was born in Manheim Township, a son of the late Walter and Irene Roehm Rhinier.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Happy Hours Club. His Masonic affiliations included the Andrew H. Hershey Lodge 764, the Lancaster County Shrine Club, the Zembo Temple, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Harrisburg Consistory.
He was a former chairman of the Lancaster Recreation Commission and former commissioner of City Parks and Public Property.
Former three-term mayor Thomas J. Monaghan said he worked closely with Rhinier for many years and especially admired the former councilman's dedication in his park and recreation work.
Rhinier's "desire to improve the parks and recreational (facilities) was unmatched," Monaghan said. "He was a really dedicated individual."
Rhinier was a graduate of Manheim Township High School.
Surviving are two daughters, Joan, wife of Larry Quinlivan of Herndon, Va., and Carolyn, wife of Robert D. Rothweiler, Leola; a son, Dennis E., Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Ernest and Larry, both of Lancaster.

She was an active member of the West Conestoga Church of the Brethren, the Ladies Aid Society and the Brethren Home auxillary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Reba Mae, wife of Donald Ober, Lititz; Melvin D., Lititz R5 and Edgar P., at home; and six grandchildren.

Eugene E. Harnly, 84, of 5934 Pine St., East Petersburg, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday afternoon. Death was attributed to natural causes.
He was the husband of Julia Hacker Harnly. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary on Feb. 19.
Born in Penn Township, he was a son of the late Melvin G. Harnly and Anna Earhart Harnly Snyder.
He retired in 1976 after 39 years with Mac-It Corp. in Lancaster, where he first worked as a tool and die maker and later as a foreman.
A lifelong member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren, he served as a church trustee.
He was past president of both the Lancaster Association of Retired Citizens and the East Petersburg Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Park City Twalkers and the East Petersburg Fireman's Association, having been a fire policeman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Julie A., wife of John L. Ament of Conestoga; five sons, Wayne E., husband of Rosalie Harnly, and David C., husband of Joy A. Naaman E. "Nip" Harnly, 79, of 920 State St., died Friday afternoon at Community Hospital of Lancaster after a long illness.
He was the husband of Doris Rowney Harnly. They observed their 51st anniversary Sept. 16.
Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Melvin and Anna Earhart Harnly.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster.
A graduate of Lancaster Business School, he retired from Home Life Insurance Co. in 1982 after 20 years.
He was a member of the commercial bowling league at Rocky Springs Lanes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, J. Larry, husband of Bonnie K. Harnly of Lancaster; a daughter, Carole L. Will of Leola; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Esther E. Harnly of Lancaster and Mary E. Harnly of Millersville.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Helen G. Dennis, 97, of 80 N. Colebrook Road, Manheim, formerly of 36 E. Ferdinand St., Manheim, died Wednesday morning at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Dennis was a seamstress for 40 years with the former William H. Noggle & Sons garment factory, Manheim. She retired in 1976.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Stiegel Roses Senior Citizen's Group, both in Manheim.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.
Born in Cornwall, she was the daughter of the late Newton B. and Annie Shank Gibble.
Her husband, R. Earl Dennis, died in 1953.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond E., husband of Sara Dennis of Marietta, Ohio, and Clair, husband of Linda Fink Dennis of Manheim; three daughters, Dorothy E., wife of Joseph Brooks of Boulder City, Nev., Jean D. Bard of Manheim, and Patricia, wife of Donald Rohrer of Lititz; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Gibble, and two sisters, Laura Gibble and Esther Focht.
Helen married Raymond Earl Dennis in 1923 in Lancaster County, PA. Raymond was born in 1898 and died in 1953 at age 55.

EDGAR HINES, MANHEIM, DIES
Edgar J. Hines, 63, Manheim R4, died Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. while visiting at the home of J. Homer Heisey, 355 S. Main St. Manheim.
Death was unexpected, but Hines had been under the care of a physician.
Born in Hillsville, Va., he was the son of the late James and Mappy Gregory Hines. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim' Lodge No. 193 Free and Accepted masons, Hillsville, Va.; and the 35 years Club of Raybestos-Manhattan, inc., Manheim. He was a retired hot presser at Raybestos.
He is survived by his widow, Rachel Fink Hines; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley M. Drumheller, Manheim R3; a grandchild; two brothers, William Hines and Monroe Hines, both of Hillsville, Va.; two sisters; Martha Hines and Vennie, wife of Benjamin Crocker, both of Leola R1.

Claude B. Fink, 59, of 33 S. Penn St., Manheim, died Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. in General Hospital after an illness of one year.
He and his wife, Pauline Carter Fink, operated a grocery store in Manheim.
Born in Penn Twp., a son of the late Jacob W. and Mary Buch Fink, he was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim; and the Manheim Fire Co.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Mrs. Donna M. Tawes, Manheim; Linda, wife of Clair Dennis, Lancaster; Donald B. Manheim; and J. Kenneth, Hyattsville, MD; also seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Carrie F. Frey, 75, of 436 Nevin St. Died unexpectedly Wednesday at her home. She had been under the care of a physician.
Her husband was the late Charles Frey.
She was born in Lancaster County, where she was a life-long resident, and was the daughter of the late Emmanuel D. and Mary Ann Miller.
She was a member of the First Church of God, Lancaster.
Surviving are two daughters: Dorothy, wife of Harold Rohrer, Landisville, and Mrs. Mary Jane Triolo, Lancaster.
A brother, Wallace Miller, Landisville; four grandchildren; and five great-children also survive.

Charles H. Hilton, Sr.
Charles H. Hilton, Sr., 89, of 2429 Elias Avenue, Lebanon, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in his residence.
He was the husband of the late Phyllis Long Hilton, who died in 1979 and the late Mary Zinn Hilton, who died in 2001.
Born in Lebanon, on January 5, 1918, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary Brubaker Hilton.
He was retired from Hershey Foods Corporation employed with the Watch Force and Maintenance Departments. He was a graduate of Shippensburg High School, a member of Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, Cleona, and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corporation.
Surviving are two sons, Charles H. Hilton, Jr., of Lebanon and John Hilton of Manheim; three daughters, Miriam Wenger of Yardville, NJ, Dell Hilton of Lebanon, and Claudette, wife of Lenwood Williams, with whom he lived; a niece, Violet Norton of Lebanon; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy and Luther Hilton; and a sister, Sally Whitman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., from Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, 529 W. Penn Avenue, Cleona. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park. Viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., at Fairland Church and also Saturday from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service.

ANNVILLE -- Mary C. Zinn Wenger Hilton, 82, formerly of Annville, died Monday in Cornwall Manor, Cornwall.
She had been credit manager for Montgomery Ward, Lebanon, and a manager for Spiegel Inc. of Lebanon and Annville was a graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg; and member of Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, Cleona.
She was the widow of D. Ray Wenger. Surviving are her husband, Charles H. Hilton; four sons, D. Ray Wenger Jr. of Yardville, N.J., Carlin L. Wenger of Harrisburg, John Hilton and Charles H. Hilton Jr., both of Manheim; three daughters, Miriam Wenger of Yardville, Dell Hilton and Claudette Williams, both of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in her church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in the church.

An obituary in Monday's New Era contained an incorrect spelling of the last name of the parents of Thomas R. Hilton, who died Saturday at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. He was the son of the late Thomas C. and Cora Hilton. The New Era regrets the error.

Mary M. Hilton, 79, of 305 N. Main St., Manheim, died of natural causes Friday at Essa Flory Hospice Center.
Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Barbara Miller Haldeman.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim.
Surviving are a son, James R., married to Susan E. Hilton of Elizabethtown; and two daughters, Patricia A., married to Ray E. Herr of Manheim and Barbara D. Hilton of Glen Mills.
Also surviving are a brother, three sisters, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John R. Hilton, 80, World War II veteran
John R. Hilton, 80, of 57 N. Grant St., Manheim, died Friday afternoon at home following a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Lillian M. Nagle, who died Oct. 23, 1992.
Hilton worked for Science Press, Ephrata, and the former Business Press of Lancaster as a book binder for more than 37 years; he retired from Science Press in 1987.
He served as a technician fourth grade in the Army's 3459th Ordnance Co. during World War II.
Hilton was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, a member of Manheim Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5956 and a life member of the Manheim Sportsmen's Association.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Stoney Brook Lodge in Potter County.
Born in Manheim, he was a son of the late Thomas C. Sr. and Cora Keath Hilton.
Surviving are a son, Douglas R. Hilton, Manheim; a daughter, Susan M., wife of Keith A. Barrick, Mechanicsburg; three granddaughters; a brother, Thomas C. Hilton Jr., Manheim; and a sister, Betty, wife of Wayne Getz, Lancaster. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold C. Hilton and Kermit Hilton.

Ella V. Boyer
Ella Viola Boyer, 90, a lifelong resident of Minersvillage, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in Cornwall Manor. She was the wife of the late Edwin L. Boyer.
Born Dec. 3, 1913, in Minersvillage, she was a daughter of the late Elam and Bertha Hilton Waltman. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of Cornwall United Methodist Church and Cornwall Manor Society. As a resident of Cornwall Manor, she twice was named "Volunteer of the Year" there with over 1,000 hours of volunteer work per year.
Surviving are sons Charles, husband of Jean Stein Boyer, of Schaefferstown, Robert, husband of Joan Whitman Boyer, of Rexmont, James, husband of Mary Reed Boyer, of Harrisburg and Carl Boyer of Lebanon; daughter Joyce, wife of Stanley Doxtater, of South Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by son Richard Boyer, a Vietnam veteran, and two grandsons.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Levi Zerr Chapel of Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, preceded by a calling time at 9:30. Interment will be in Cornwall Cemetery. Rohland Funeral Home, Lebanon, is handling arrangements.

He was born in Lebanon County, the son of the late John and Tillie Hilton Johnson. He was an army vetran of World War II.
Johnson was a member of the Robins, the Maennerchor Club, and the Keystone Gun Club.
He is survived by his widow, Sarah Rhine Johnson; 11 children, Mrs. Patricia Deck, Wernersville; Mrs. Helen Anderson, New Sweden, Me.; Mrs. Barbara Traux, Lebanon; Edward, Lebanon; Charles, Wernersville; Miss Cathy Johnson, Newmanstown; Mrs. Mary Stamm, Richland; Mrs. Brenda Trimble, Lebanon; Rodney and Steven, Lebanon, and Ricky, Louisana; 25 grandchildren; three brothers, William W., William A., and Kenneth O., all of Lebanon, two sisters, Mrs. Dorris Binner and Mrs. Helen Becker, both of Lebanon.

Helen M. Becker, 74, of 1825 Church Street, Lebanon, died Thursday Nov. 18, 2004, in her home. She was the wife of Warren N. Becker, with whom she celebrated a 58th wedding anniversary in May.
Born in Lebanon on Dec. 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Matilda Hilton Johnson. She had worked for the former Hill's Department Store in the receiving department. She attended Living Waters Chapel, North Lebanon, and enjoyed woodworking, camping, shopping and gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons Warren N. Jr., husband of Gail Becker of Lebanon, and Dawson L., husband of Sharon Becker of Jonestown; Daughters Diana Hentz of Lebanon and Kelly, wife of Daniel Geesaman of Cleona; brother Kenneth Johnson of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by daughter Gloria Jean Becker, a grandson Justin Bradley Becker and a great-great grandson Joshua Scott Miller. Brothers Elwood, John & William Johnson and sisters Doris Binner and Evelyn Johnson.
Her funeral will be on Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Living Waters Chapel, 1900 Jay St., North Lebanon Township, with wiewing an hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Ebenezer Greenwood Cemetery.

ROY T. HILTON, 74, WAS A TRUCK DRIVER
Roy T. Hilton, 74, of 420 E. 28th Division Highway, Brickerville, died at Lancaster General Hospital at 10:55 p.m. Saturday after a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Estella K. Reigel Hilton and was born in Elizabeth Township, a son of the late Clayton and Mary Todd Hilton. He lived in the Lititz area his entire life.
Seven years ago he retired as a truck driver for A.K. Mann Tobacco Company, where he worked for 25 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Brickerville, and the Brickerville Fire Company.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Arlene J., wife of Kreider W. May, Lititz; a son, Rodney B. Hilton; Lititz, five grand children; and a sister, Luetta, wife of Clarence Keller, Lititz.

Luetta H. Keller, 84, of Luther Acres, Lititz, died there Monday after a brief illness.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lititz.
She was a member of the Lititz Senior Citizens and the Lititz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she had served as a secretary.
She enjoyed knitting and taking bus trips.
Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Mary Todd Hilton.

THOMAS MILLER, HOSPITAL RETIREE
Thomas W. Miller, 82, of 1708 Old Philadelphia Pike, died Friday at the Essa Flory Hospice Center after a long illness.
Miller worked at Lancaster General Hospital in the laundry department for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He previously had been a linesman for two years at Signa Corporation and a stockperson for 18 years at Woodstream.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
A lifelong resident of Lancaster, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3376, Ephrata.
Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Elmer L. and Susan Witcraft Miller.
He was married to Margaret Gregg for 25 years in November.

Esther M. Boyer, 88, of Adam's Trailer Park, Lititz, died of natural causes Thursday in Clayton, N.C.
She was the wife of John Bartsch, who died in 1931, and Harry Boyer, who died in 1982.
Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Nora Hilton and Morris Irvin.
She and her second husband operated the Snackette of Brickerville from 1959 to 1969.
She was a member of Mellinger's Lutheran Church of Shoeneck.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene Bartsch of Lititz and Jack of Clayton, N.C.; three daughters, Theda J., wife of LeRoy Buchter of Lititz, Faye A., wife of Willis Pannebecker of Shoeneck, and Marion J. JACK G. BOYER Jack Glenn Boyer, 63, formerly of Wayne and Johnston counties, died Tuesday in Fort Stockton, Texas.
The funeral will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will be at a later date in the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Boyer was born in Lancaster, Pa., to the late Harry N. and Esther Irvin Boyer and was married to the late Linda Fay Boyer.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam, and was a former member of the Johnston County Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. While a member of those organizations, he drove over a thousand miles transporting veterans to medical appointments. He also was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks (BOPE) and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his half brother, Irvin Eugene Bartsch, of Lebanon, Pa.; and two sisters, Faye Pannecker of Redding, Pa., and Marion Boyer of Pennsylvania.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service on Monday night.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Eagles Nest Campground, 1028 Eagles Nest Road, Dudley NC 28333.

ROY A. IRVIN
Roy A. Irvin, 71, a Warwick Township supervisor and farmer, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at his home. 537 Hackman Road, Brunnerville. Death was apparently due to natural causes, but an autopsy was ordered.
He was the husband of Gladys Kauffman Irvin.
A lifelong resident of Warwick Township, Irvin was currently serving his second term as a township supervisor; he was vice chairman of the supervisor's board and head of the road committee.
Irvin also had been roadmaster for the township for 15 years and retired from that position about six years ago.
Irvin was currently farming at his Brunnerville farm. He was a trustee of the Brunnerville Fire Company.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Irvin served in the Fighting 69th Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
Born in Warwick Township, he was the son of the late Morris and Nora Hilton Irvin.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Terry Kauffman, Landisville; two daughters, Karen I., wife of Russell Spang Jr., Neffsville, and Audrey E., wife of Dane St. Clair, Brunnerville; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Paul M., Burnnerville, and Clarence, Brickerville; and six sisters; Esther Boyer, Clayton, S.C.; Evelyn, wife of Howard Neideigh, Lititz; Dorothy, wife of Charles Mort, Brickerville; Elva, wife of Valentine Kupres, Sporting Hill; and Katherine, wife of James Shreiner, and Lois, wife of Isaac Bomberger, both of Penryn.

Valentine Kupres, 77, retired supervisor
Valentine J. Kupres, 77, of 1072 Mount Joy Road, Manheim, died Sunday at home after a brief illness.
He retired in 1985 as a supervisor at Raymark of Manheim, where he had worked since 1950. He later worked from 1985 to 1990 at Myers Brothers, and at Weis Markets in Manheim until the time of his death.
He also owned Hilltop Tavern in Sporting Hill from 1950 to 1957.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He was a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church, Manheim. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed woodworking.
Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of the late John H. and Teresa Werner Kupres.
His wife, Elva I. Irvin Kupres, died in 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Anthony B., married to Barbara Kupres, and Donald J., married to Deborah Kupres, both of Manheim; two daughters, Rose Marie, married to J. Timothy Hershey of Manheim, and Mary Kupres Brown of Glassboro, N.J.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, John M. of Florida and Joseph J., married to Doris Kupres of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Anna C. Born in Martindale, PA, he was the son of the late John and Emma Reinhold Hilton. He was married for over 67 years to Susie Elizabeth Good Hilton. Paul retired as a self employed carpenter and builder. His interests included hunting, fishing and gardening. Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Eleanor G. Kenneth R. Buch
Kenneth R. Buch, 84, died at Fairmount Retirement Community, West Earl Twp., on Sunday, October 16th.
He was born in Vogansville to the late Leon and Ida (Ream) Buch.
Ken was the husband of the late Verna (Hilton) Buch who died in 1991.
Mr. Buch was an active member of the Brickerville United Lutheran Church, where he was on the property committee and assisted in the care of the church's cemetery.
A veteran of WWII, Ken was a member of the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific.
He was employed for many years at RAMARK, Inc. in Manheim in the maintenance department.
Ken was a member of Cocalico Post #3376 VFW, Ephrata and the American Legion Garden Spot Post #56, Lititz.
He enjoyed hunting, watching TV-especially the Nashville Channel- driving his Chevys, bus trips and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandsons, who always brightened his day with their visits.
Surviving are his son, Kenneth Buch, married to Patricia (Buchhalter) Buch of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Kristin, married to Darryl Woerner of Marietta; a grandson, James Buch of Columbia and two great-grandsons, Alexander and Logan Woerner.
Also surviving are his sister, Ida Buch Mahoney; his brother, Cletus, husband of Betty Buch and a half-brother, David Buch.
Ken was preceded in death by two brothers: Leon Buch, Jr. and Douglas Buch.
Funeral services at the Wheat Ridge Chapel of Fairmount Homes Retirement Community, W.
Earl Twp., on Thursday, Oct. 20th at 11 AM with Rev.
Cliff Hanus officiating.
Friends are invited to call at the chapel on the morning of the service from 9:30-11 AM.
Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brickerville with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.

Phares M. Zeiset, 74, a retired dairy farmer who lived at 218 Fetterville Road, East Earl, died Wednesday morning at Ephrata Community Hospital. He was under a physician's care.
He and his wife, Anna Wenger Zeiset, were married 51 years last Nov. 9.
He belonged to Weaverland (Frame) Mennonite Church of East Earl.
Born in Caernarvon Township, he was a son of the late John and Lydia Martin Zeiset.

Marian Sauder, was avid golfer
Marian J. Hilton Sauder, 55, of 88 N. 10th St., Akron, died Friday afternoon at Ephrata Community Hospital following a long illness.
She was the wife of Melvin E. Sauder Sr. The couple observed their 35th wedding anniversary Jan. 7.
Born in Elizabeth Township, she was a daughter of the late David and Viola Hertzog Hilton. She was employed from 1967 until her illness in 1988 at her family business, Dutchman's Truck Service of Denver.
She was a member of Ephrata Church of the Brethren; the Akron Lioness Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Cloister Chapter 406, Akron. She was also an avid golfer until her illness.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Melvin E. Jr. and Akron J. Kevin, Stevens; and a daughter, Melanie S. Foster, Reinholds.
Seven grandchildren also survive, along with two brothers, Russell D. Hilton and Carl Hilton, both of Ephrata, and a sister, Dorothy I., wife of Donald Warfel.

Russell E. Ulrich, 77, of 525 E. New St., Lititz, died at Lancaster General Hospital Monday afternoon following a lengthy illness.
Ulrich was employed by Snap-On Tools as a government specialist and consultant, retiring in 1983 after 25 years.
He was a member of Manheim Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons No. 587, the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, the Reading Consistory and the Lititz Odd Fellows.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, where he formerly served on church council.
He enjoyed deep-sea fishing.
Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Ammon S. and Anna Hilton Ulrich.
He was married to Maude H. Ober Ulrich for 56 years in April.

Milfred H. "Wit" Witman, 75, of 684 Greenridge Drive, Manheim, died early Thursday morning at Brethren Village, Neffsville, following a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of June Hockersmith Witman. They were married for 49 years on June 9.
Born in Penn Township, he was a son of the late Frank M. and Stella D. Hilton Witman.
He had been employed by the former Hubley Manufacturing Corp. for 29 years, in the sales and purchasing department.
Later, Witman worked at Manheim Auto Auction in the arbitration department, and also served as a Manheim Central School District bus driver.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served as a communications specialist on a troop transport.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manheim, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5956 in Manheim, the American Legion Ammon K. Gibble Post 419 in Manheim, Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 43 in Lancaster, the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the Harrisburg Consistory.
He was a member of the Manheim Sportsmen's Association and was secretary of the East Petersburg Bowling League.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Ronald L. of Lancaster; a daughter, Linda Lewis, wife of Dr. Charles Morris of Lancaster and Aberdeen, Md.; six grandchildren; four brothers, Dale of North Carolina, Clyde of Stroudsburg, and Glenn and Clarence, both of Manheim; and three sisters, Reba, wife of James Reppert of Manheim, Gladys, wife of Leslie Johnstone of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lenore, wife of the Rev. Ervin Ellison of Fort Washington, Md.

Fourteen Manheim Central alumni will become the first honorees of the Manheim Central Hall of Fame on Saturday.
The induction ceremony and banquet to honor the alumni will be held at Manheim Central High School.
Mike Clair, chairman of the Manheim Central Alumni Association's Hall of Fame committee, said the honorees fall into two general categories.
Some have demonstrated excellence in their careers and attribute a portion of their success to the time spent at Manheim Central or its predecessor, Manheim High School.
Others are not Manheim graduates but have made significant contributions to the Manheim Central school community for 10 or more years, Clair said.

Clyde "Red" Witman, Class of 1950, a Manheim Central athlete who was on the 1950 District III Wrestling All-Star Team and was a champion and state runner-up in javelin. He was also a teacher and coach -- with a PIAA record of six regional champions in 1956 -- and was named to seven athletic halls of fame.

Clyde H. "Red" Witman, 74, of Ephrata, died at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster Friday, April 28, 2006. He was born in Manheim, a son of the late Frank and Stella Witman. He was the husband of Jacqueline Beck Witman for 48 years. He graduated from Manheim High School in 1950 and West Chester University in 1954. He also received his masters degree from Penn State University and post masters degree from the University of North Carolina. He taught and coached at Manheim High School and Cheltenhem High School, later becoming a professor, wrestling coach and athletic director at East Stroudsburg University. Always respected by his peers, Red served as President of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Earlier he had served in that role for both the College Division and Div II. He wrote the constitution for the latter. He served as Athletic Director for 10 years and among other duties he was named the President of the EIWA (Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Assn.) an unprecedented seven years and Chairman of the EIWA jury of appeals for nine years. He was a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee for wrestling. He served as Chairman of the ECAC (Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference) Infractions Committee and was a member of the ECAC Executive Committee. Red has been recognized by being named to the following: District # 3 Wrestling Hall of Fame, PA State Wrestling Hall of Fame, Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Officials Hall of Fame, PA Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (charter member), PA Athletic Conference Hall of Fame, West Chester Univ. Wrestling Hall of Fame and East Stroudsburg Univ. Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1995 the East Stroudsburg Univ. Alumni Asso. presented him with the "Great Teacher" award. Clyde presently served on the EIWA Hall of Fame Committee and did drug testing the the NCAA. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Keith Witman of Aspen, Colo., and Mitchell Witman of San Francisco, Calif.; three brothers, Glenn, husband of Ruth Witman of Manheim, Dale, husband of Margaret Witman of Durham, N.C., and Clarence, husband of Paula Witman of Manheim; and three sisters, Gladys, wife of Leslie Johnstone of Virginia Beach, Va., Lenore Ellison of Leonardtown, Md., and Reba, wife of James Reppert of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a brother, Milfred Witman. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. Robert H. Fellenbaum, 88, of the Mennonite Home, formerly of Central Manor, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Lancaster General Hospital of natural causes. He was the husband of the late Miriam P. Keagy Fellenbaum who died January 26, 2001. He was born in West Lampeter Twp., son of the late Clyde S. and Edna Hilton Fellenbaum. He was a farmer and also was on the custodial staff at RCA for 27 years before he retired in 1982 and was the produce manager at John Herr's Village Market, Millersville for 10 years. A member of Masonville Mennonite Church. He grew his own flowers, especially gladiolas. He enjoyed traveling and his grandchildren. He is survived by three sons: Robert E., married to May Fellenbaum, Mount Joy; Donald H., married to Kathleen Fellenbaum, Washington Boro, and L. Kenneth, married to Debra Fellenbaum, Milford, Conn.; one daughter: Patricia Daveler, Denver; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Clyde Fellenbaum, Conestoga; Fred Fellenbaum, East Petersburg; Daniel Fellenbaum, Manheim; and Marlin Fellenbaum, Lancaster; two sisters: Evelyn Good, Columbia, and Alta Correll, Lititz. The couple was married Oct. 16, 1937, at the Lancaster County home of their church bishop.
They are the parents of Robert E., husband of May, Mount Joy; Donald H., wife of Kathleen, Washington Boro; Patricia A., Schoeneck; and L. Kenneth, husband of Debra, Milford, Conn.
They have 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He retired from RCA and vegetable farming.
Mrs. Fellenbaum, the former Miriam P. Keagy retired from tending a market stand and from John Herr Village Market Inc., Millersville.

Miriam P. Fellenbaum, 83, of 1007 Central Manor Road, died Friday morning at Lancaster Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was employed in the deli department of John Herr's Market in Millersville, retiring in 1978 after 11 years.
A member of the Masonville Mennonite Church, she enjoyed flower gardening and making dresses for her grandchildren.
She was a 1936 graduate of the former Manor-Millersville High School.
Born in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. and Elsie V. Lippy Keagy.
She was married to Robert H. Fellenbaum for 63 years in October.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Robert E., married to May Zook Fellenbaum of Mount Joy, Donald H., married to Kathleen Burkhart Fellenbaum of Washington Boro, and L. E. Blanche Bauman, 73, of Millersville, died Friday, October 13, 2006 at ManorCare, Lancaster following a lengthy battle with leukemia. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clyde S. and Edna D. Hilton Fellenbaum. She was the wife of Alvin H. Bauman with whom she celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on March 12. Blanche attended Manheim Township School. She was the manager of the Salad Bar at John Herr's Village Market, Millersville and formerly worked for Conestoga Wagon Restaurant, Willow Valley, and Hershey Farms. Blanche was a member of Masonville Mennonite Church, Washington Boro for many years. She enjoyed sitting by her fish pond, summer vacations at the beach with her family and grandchildren, collecting Longaberger Baskets, and cooking and baking for family and friends. Richard N. Myer, Agway sales rep
Richard N. "Dick" Myer, 80, of Hershey Road, Lititz, died Wednesday at home after a brief illness. He was under hospice care.
Myer was a sales representative for 28 years for Agway - Henry B. Hoover Inc., Ephrata. He retired in 1988.
He previously worked in a shoe factory in Lititz.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 346th Regiment M-edical Detachment in Europe, mostly in France and Germany, and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a member of Brickerville United Lutheran Church, where he taught the youth and teen Sunday school class, served as Sunday school superintendent and church treasurer and was a member of the church council for 20 years.
Myer also belonged to Cloister Post 429, American Legion, Ephrata, and Disabled American Veterans No. 80.
He enjoyed roses, gardening and reading.
Born in Leacock Township, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Helen D. Hilton Myer.
He was married 57 years on April 6 to Alta Young Myer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, James R., married to Sharon Johnson Myer of Mount Airy; three daughters, Janice L., married to John Reidenbaugh, and Sharon J., married to Jack Yoder, both of Lititz, and Joyce E., married to David L. Raymond C. Kissinger, 89, formerly of 535 Westfield Drive, New Holland, died Thursday afternoon at Luther Acres, Lititz, after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Ruth E. Enck Kissinger, who died in 1993.
Born in Talmage, he was a son of the late James and Laura Cammauf Kissinger.
He retired in 1975 from the former Sperry New Holland where he worked for 25 years in the service parts depot. He had also worked for the former Stahli Silk Mill, Lititz.
Kissinger was a life member of the Lancaster County Firemen's Association.

Nancy M. Kissinger, 64, formerly of Duke Street, Ephrata, died of natural causes Wednesday morning at Luther Acres in Lititz, where she had lived since Feb. 14. Until last month she lived at Conestoga View.
Mrs. Kissinger was a sewing machine operator with Dutchmaid Inc. in New Holland and Husin's and Hestico Manufacturing, both of Ephrata.
She was a member and former sexton of Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ephrata.
She was a member of the Lancaster Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of Helen Rambler Keller of Manheim, and the late John Keller.
Her husband, Lloyd Kissinger Jr., died in 1995.
Surviving besides her mother are a daughter, Tina M., wife of Al R. Ovensen of Ephrata; a son, Dean A., husband of Juanita G. Stark Kissinger of Lititz; two brothers, Richard Keller of Manheim and Robert Keller of Nottingham, Chester County; and five grandchildren.
A son, Robert L., died in 1991.

Orpha "Mae" Helman, 80, of 1216 Orchid Road, Lititz, died Friday at Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness.
She retired in 1986 from the former Walter W. Moyer Co., Ephrata.
A member of Salem United Methodist Church, Rothsville, she belonged to Women of the Church and was a substitute organist.
She was a 1940 graduate of Rothsville High School.
Born in Rothsville, she was the daughter of the late Margie C. Kissinger.
She was married to Jacob D. Helman 57 years.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Linda, married to Samuel M. Kemp III of Fleetwood; a son, Jeffrey of Morristown, N.J.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Young.

Jacob D. Helman
Jacob D. Helman, 82, formerly of Orchard Rd., Lititz, entered into rest on April 14, 2006, at Luther Acres, Lititz. Born in Brunnerville, he was the son of the late Ernest B. and Ella Herr Helman, and the husband of the late Orpha Mae Helman. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Rothsville, and was formerly a member of the Warwick Township Lions Club. Jacob was a master carpenter and partner in Kipp and Helman Builders, where he specialized in kitchen cabinetry, retiring in 1988. He served in the United States Army in the European campaign during World War II. His hobbies were woodworking and gardening. Survivors include his children, Linda, wife of Samuel M. Kemp, III, Fleetwood, Jeffrey D., husband of Bobbi Helman, Morristown, N.J.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert S., husband of Gladys Helman, Brunnerville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene M. Young. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service from Salem United Methodist Church, 1744 Rothsville Road, Rothsville, on April 18, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Sandy E. Knaub officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville. Richard H. Heisey Funeral Home is serving the family, 626-2464.

LAVERN MUMMA, ARMSTRONG RETIREE
Lavern W. Mumma, 82, of Lancashire Hall, formerly of Talmage, died Friday afternoon at home after a brief illness.
He worked 36 years at Armstrong World Industries, retiring in 1980 as a mixer in the calendar department. He also worked several years at the former Ephrata Market flower stand.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific.
Mumma was a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church of Brownstown and a church trustee.
He also was a former member of West Earl Township Fire Company.
An avid football and baseball fan, he enjoyed woodworking.
Born in Warwick Township, he was the son of the late Wallace and Iva Williams Mumma.
He was married 63 years to Marguerite Weaver Mumma.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Dennis, married to Claudia Bauer Mumma of Ephrata; three daughters, Ruby Fryberger Stoltzfus of Honey Brook, Janice, married to Richard Finefrock of Leola, and Carol, married to Edward Finefrock of New Holland; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Heiney of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Schaeffer, and five brothers, William, Clinton, Milton, Victor and Lester.

Obituary: Anna S. Ulrich, 91, of Audubon Villa Nursing Home, Lititz, died Tuesday evening at the home after an illness of five months.
Formerly of 529 Rome Road, Lititz, she had been a resident at Audubon Villa for four years. She was the wife of the late Ammon S. Ulrich, who died in 1980.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Penryn. Mrs. Ulrich was also a former member of the Lititz Fire Company auxiliary.
She enjoyed crocheting and tatting.
Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Hettie L. Shelley Hilton.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret P. Weller, Mohnton; two sons, Russell E. and Bruce K., both of Lititz; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Obituary: Margaret P. Weller, 79, of Mohnton R3, died Saturday at ManorCare Health Services, Sinking Spring, Berks County.
A homemaker, she was the widow of John J. Weller.
Born in Warwick Township, she was the daughter of the late Ammon and Anna Hilton Ulrich.
She is survived by three sons, Nevin D. Weit, Lancaster, and Barry L. Weit and Randy L. Weit, both of Lititz; a daughter, Karen Mullis, Mohnton; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bruce Ulrich, Lititz.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell E. Ulrich.
